Recently, I bought a gamepad like the one reviewed in this article: http://retropixelblog.blogspot.com.es/2012/08/review-buffalo-snes-usb-gamepad.html . It is of very good quality and identical to the original. As an emulator, I chose zsnes, which is easy to install and configure.
To install the emulator:
emerge -av games-emulation/zsnes
